Plain Oil Cake


  • 3 Eggs
  • ¾ Cup hot water
  • 4 Tablespoons oil
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 ½ Cups Flour
  • 3 Level teaspoons baking powder
  • Vanilla
  • Salt


Whisk egg whites until stiff. Beat the yolks, sugar, water and oil well together.  Add sifted flour, salt and baking powder.  Then the vanilla.  Lastly fold in the egg whites.  Spray the middle pan with cook 'n spray.  Pour the mixture in.  Bake over a medium flame  for 20 -  25 minutes.


Fruit Coctail Cake



  • 2 Eggs
  • 1½ Cup sugar
  • Salt
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 Small can fruit cocktail (1 cup)


Beat eggs well, add sugar, beat very well.  Chop the fruit in small pieces.  The fruit and juice must be used all and all in 1 cup.  Add to sugar mixture.  Then add the flour.  Lastly the Bicarbonate mixed with water.  Spray the middle pan with cook 'n spray.  Pour the mixture in and bake over a medium flame for 25 minutes.


All Purpose Cake



  • ¾ Cup boiling water
  • 1¼ Cup Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 ¼ Cup flour
  • 1¼ Teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla


Mix together the boiling water and sugar. Beat egg yolks then gradually add the hot sugar mixture.  Add flour and then fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.  Stir in vanilla essence and lastly add the baking powder mixed with a little lukewarm water.  Spray middle pan with cook 'n spray and pour mixture in.  Bake over medium flame for 25 minutes.


Korslose Melktert



  • 2 Koppies melk
  • ½ Koppie meel
  • ½ Teelepel bakpoeier
  • 2 Eetlepels sagte botter
  • 2 Eiers (geskei)
  • ½ Koppie suiker
  • ½ Teelepel vanilla
  • Knippie sout


Room die botter en suiker saam.  Klits die eiergele en voeg dit by.  Sif die meel, sout en bakpoeier saam en voerg dit ook by om die beurt met die melk.  Klits eierwitte styf en vou in.  Roer geursel by.  Smeer die middelpan met botter en gooi die mengsel in.  Bak oor 'n matige flam vir 20 minute.
